Growing Up With Grains of Sand emerged from nostalgic memories of playing with sand as kids and a desire to bring this material back into adult lives. We continued to engage with sand, but in its more mature and refined form—glass.

Through the pieces we created, our goal was to present sand from a new perspective: the uniqueness of each grain as seen through adult eyes. To achieve this, we used a magnifying microscope on individual grains, revealing their colors, shapes, patterns, and textures. By combining volumes, we collaged grains of sand, stacking them to create a «microscopic sandcastle.» We also integrated the raw material into the process by constructing sand molds for glassblowing, which shaped the textures and forms of the collection.

Our project captures the freedom sand gave us as children and integrates it into adult life while embracing environmental consciousness. By revisiting and transforming this material, we invite others to explore and appreciate the delicate balance between the versatility, resilience, and playfulness of life.
